RYDGES HOTEL

THE CHALLENGE – DESIGN AND DELIVER IN TIME FOR THE TOURIST SEASON

Rydges Auckland in New Zealand has the heart of the city at its front door. The hotel’s close proximity to the center of the city makes it ideal for both business and leisure, with the casino and Viaduct Basin’s bars and restaurants just a short walk away. The rooftop terrace at Rydges is used as a function and meeting space.

Structurflex was given the challenge of topping off Rydges’ fabulous roof terrace with a tension membrane cover. Practical challenges included difficult access and inconsistent reinforcing at support bracket positions. Within cost and time restraints, we also had to focus on aesthetic requirements to insure the cover would be in keeping with the hotel’s 4.5 star rating.

OUR SOLUTION – A CRISP CONCEPT AND SPEED-TRACKED METHODOLOGY

The Structurflex design and engineering team found the perfect balance of function and aesthetics to design a terrace cover that looks clean, crisp and expensive – even though it was produced cost-effectively. After structural preparation, the project was fast-tracked to guarantee installation in time for spring and summer event bookings.

Hotel management is thrilled with the outcome, which adds value to Rydges’ reputation as a quality event venue.
