The Emerald Glen Aquatic Center in Dublin, California, is home to The Wave Natatorium indoor aquatic facility, featuring swimming classes, lap swimming, water walking, and water aerobics classes. To maximize the number of days when members can use the Natatorium, Structurflex designed, fabricated and installed an ETFE cushion roof. Weighing 1% of a glass roof, the transparent polymer roof allows light into the space without excess heat and maintains a consistent internal temperature of 82-84 degrees all year round. Although the pool is completely enclosed, the height and curvature of the ETFE cushion roof create a feeling of being outdoors in the shade.
